The Winters were formed in Sydney in mid 2001 out of a shared passion for the creation of original music and the resolve of the band’s four founding members to pursue a life long ambition. The early years of The Winters existence saw the members developing their sound on the stages of Sydney’s pub circuit and in relentless hours of rehearsal. The music of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Band, Nick Drake, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Pink Floyd and The Who, coupled with more contemporary influences such as Blur, Oasis, Radiohead and Augie March fueling the group’s prolific output of original material. It was the recording and subsequent release of The Winters’ first EP “Today” in May 2003 which marked the turning point at which the group began to feel their feet, fine tune their art, and gain some attention.
