Year of the Monkey is a 5 piece Art Rock explosion that combines a dramatic 12 string acoustic, driving riffs and a pounding rhythm section with vocals reminiscent of Robert Plant stumbling into the new millennium! Originating from the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, YOTM has played successfully in and around Melbourne for the last 4 years at venues such as The Hi-Fi Bar, Revolver, The Ding Dong Lounge, The Duke of Windsor and the Espy Hotel, St Kilda, including a sell out show at the 750 capacity Gershwin Room. After participating in Germany’s annual International Music Expo Popkom, the band was approached by American Producer Ron Goudie who flew over and helped produce their first EP. This led to the 2nd EP ‘The Claremont Sessions’ recorded at the world-renowned Sing Sing Studios by engineer Dave Davis who has worked with the likes of Powderfinger, The Living End and Eskimo Joe. With influences such as Muse, Tool, Led Zeppelin and The Tea Party, YOTM is creating its very own
