Zane Penn takes a leaf from the tree in the old school yard. Like the artists who have inspired him Dylan, Bowie, The Rolling Stones and U2 he is a musician and a storyteller. His creativity is driven by his emotion, which is evident in his writings and delivery. Songs such as ‘The Night Pub Rock Died’ display his anger at the selfishness of people moving to live near an established live music venue, then doing their best to shut it down because it’s too noisy for their liking. Themes from serious public issues to songs of novel content and everything in between, all these fields of play surface in his lyrics. Like artists such as Tom Petty and Neil Young, Zane's writing draws from from the early raw roots side of the spectrum, with very natural feeling grooves and rhythm's driving his sound.
