Meeting for the first time with an element of serendipity, Zen Birdie was formed after Ciaran and Felix met Claire by chance at a Courtney Barnett concert. Although they met on the back of a fluke invitation, it seems as though their union was destined. Claire, the guitarist, lead singer and songwriter for the band is heavily inspired by the vocal performance of Jeff Buckley, Patti Smith and Robert Plant. Although King Krule is her leading creative influence, her Jimmy Page telecaster is what gives her sound flavour and flair. Felix, the drummer and sound engineer is dedicated to his craft of perfecting the mix, master and musical innovation for the group. Like Claire, he is moved by the likes of Led Zeppelin and worships the wizardry of John Bonham’s drumming. Despite his seeming niche in alternative rock music, he's always up for a boogie to Motown and bossanova jazz with his bandmates.
