Formed approximately 2 years ago in Cairns, Zephyr Deluxe showcases the songwriting abilities of Gavin Murray - soulful catchy reggae/blues/rock/funk. Initially a loose collective of up to 7 players, with gradual lineup changes Zephyr Deluxe morphed into what has turned out to be a solid classic 3 piece lineup - bass, drums, and Guitar/vocals. The songs have also undergone somewhat of a transition as the heavy funk/rock foundation 5 string bassplaying of Steven "Papa" Stanley combines with the rock solid beats of Paul "The Enforcer" Francis to provide a platform where Gavin's spirited singing and guitar playing can find it's place. The result is original yet accessible, a fusion of Far Northern influences - from rolling melodic reggae, through funky downtempo rock triphop, to heavy riff based driving blues/rock. Combine that with mid-section breakdowns into unrehearsed freestyle rock jamming in the best seventies tradition and you have the potent cocktail which is Zephyr Deluxe!
